***TW: mentions of SIDS and sexual assault
If you’ve ever wanted to know a little more about me and my background, listen up.
In the last episode of the podcast, we started reading my book, Take The Lead, together. Each week, I’m reading one chapter of the book to you here on the Leading Lady podcast. In this episode, we’re covering Chapter 1: Values Grow Up.
This chapter is focused on lessons I learned from experiences in my childhood that I have kept, refined, or let go of. We’re all shaped by the lessons we learned in childhood, but have you ever stopped to ask yourself whether some of those lessons are more harmful than helpful?
You don’t need to listen to the last episode to know what’s going on in this one; you can listen to whichever chapters you feel like, but if you do want to start from the beginning, go back to catch the prologue!
In Today’s Episode We Discuss:
- What my early years were like
- Becoming a student of emotions
- The power of recognizing patterns and removing yourself from unhealthy ones
- Choosing to break reactionary cycles
- How I became a pragmatic problem solver
- Letting go of mentalities that no longer serve you
- The value of taking on a learner’s mindset
There’s a lot of emotion in this chapter. The experiences that I’m sharing truly shaped the lens through which I see the world.
As you look back on your own childhood, I want you to ask yourself what lens you’ve been looking through and whether that lens still serves you.
