Have you heard the term “unicorn” used in the online business world?
This is usually used to describe someone who is good at many different things and ready to jump in and help solve any problem. Everyone wants to hire a unicorn!
In today’s episode of Leading Lady, I sat down with Emily Reagan, the ultimate unicorn! Emily saw a gap in the skills that aspiring digital marketers knew and the needs of business owners, and she made it her mission to help those future freelance unicorns learn the skills they need to know to become irresistible to clients.
Emily Reagan, mom of four, Air force wife, is a Digital Marketing Strategist and founder of the Unicorn Digital Marketing Assistant School. She has a background in journalism and electronic media.
As a scrappy military wife who has moved every two years, Emily has worked in various jobs related to public relations, marketing, sports media relations, journalism, and video production. … giving her the title of “jill-of-all-trades”. In 2013, she started working online as a freelancer for Jennifer Allwood and helped her grow into a 7-figure influencer and creative coach. Now, Emily’s digital marketing business helps creative entrepreneurs take their talents online, grow their social media presence and build their sales funnels.
She set out to distinguish herself as more than “just a VA”. She is a digital marketing implementer — someone who does the work and understands the business strategy. She quickly booked out. She didn’t like turning down clients, so she hired and trained her smart, over-educated, under-employed military spouse and mom friends to help her business peers. She encourages women to have their own independent source of income and start their own side hustles to capitalize on the part-time, remote work opportunities.
Emily teaches digital marketing tech skills in her 6-week intense training program the Unicorn Digital Marketing Assistant which opens a few times a year. It covers the must-knows of online business: SEO, blogging & WordPress, email marketing, affiliate marketing, social media, and marketing strategies. She calls her course graduates “unicorn digital marketing assistants” because they have all the resourceful qualities, online insight, and implementation skills that online business owners are looking for. Aka that total magical package. Emily is very proud to say she still does the client work as a Fractional CMO (Chief Marketing Officer).
In Today’s Episode We Discuss:
- The skills Emily teaches in her course
- The importance of consistency
- How to know if you need a digital marketing unicorn for your business
- Value-based pricing in digital marketing
- Emily’s ideal student
- Tips for finding a unicorn
I love that Emily not only teaches future digital marketing professionals the skills they need to know, but she also helps connect them with business owners who desperately need their help. She really looks at the whole picture and helps everyone find the success they are searching for.
I hope you found this episode inspiring and helpful! Whether you are an aspiring digital marketing unicorn or looking to hire one, reach out to Emily if you want more information!
