62: Understanding Chronic Illness with Sara Poldmae

Do you experience symptoms that look normal on paper but don’t feel normal? Do you worry that you could be suffering from a chronic illness?

In today’s episode, I am talking to Sara Poldmae about chronic illness and disease which can be a result of symptoms that go unnoticed or untreated for long periods of time.

Dr. Sara Poldmae, Licensed Acupuncturist, DACM, has been practicing holistic health care since 1998. Dr. Sara recently completed her Doctorate at Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, California, where she earned her Masters degree many years ago. Her training has included over 4,000 hours in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Western Medicine Sciences. Dr. Sara also is a Certified Functional Medicine practitioner.

Through her 20 years of practice in holistic health, Sara has bridged the gap between Western and alternative medicines. Dr. Sara works closely with her patients’ team of physicians and health care practitioners. Dr. Sara opened Meadow Hill Wellness in 2005, with the goal of integrating traditional and holistic care in order to effectively maintain her patients’ lifelong health.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • How disease happens on a spectrum
  • Minor symptoms that look normal on paper to western physicians
  • Treatment for chronic illness and disease
  • An overview of gut health and why it’s crucial to recovery
  • The importance of sleep and stress management for chronic illness
  • The control we have over our genetics
  • Steps you can take now to take control of your health

It is so important to be proactive about your health rather than reactive to prevent chronic illness. As Sara explained, if your symptoms go untreated for a long period of time, they can really create larger problems for you that become more difficult to treat in the long run.

I really encourage you to connect with Sara if you have any questions or find a good team of doctors in your area that can empower you to take control of your health especially if you suffer from chronic illness or disease!
